National Rimfire Benchrest Association of Ireland (NRBAI)

RULES & REGULATIONS.
As we are affiliated to both the European Rimfire and Air Rifle Benchrest Shooting Federation (ERABSF) and the World Rimfire and Air Rifle Benchrest Federation (WRABF) we follow their rules with some small local changes which are outlined here.

WRABF Rules
The WRABF rule book is also followed by the ERABF, there is no separate rule book for the European Federation. Withing Rimfire there are 3 Rifle Classifications, International Sporter (IS), Light Rifle (LR) and Heavy Rifle (HR). These classifications are explained within this rulebook, along with stock clarification.
The following information is the main Rules for Rimfire and Air Rifle Benchrest Competitions developed to suit international shooting. The following Rules can be used for Local, National and Continental Championships by member associations as in the NRBAI. These rules will be used for all World and European Rimfire and Air Rifle Benchrest Championships from 2013 onwards and regional/ continental matches held under the banner of the WRABF/ ERABSF – as ‘local rules’. Targets used in all competitions will be the Official World and European Rimfire and Air Rifle Benchrest Targets as supplied as a master for printing on A3 sheet (here by referred to as WRABF and ERABSF targets) (See APPENDIX F for details). This consists of 25 scoring targets. English will be the official language, both aurally and in writing, at the shooting ranges during championship.
NRBAI
Local rules which are used contrary to the WRABF published rules are as follows.
-
An additional Class is also competed in Ireland and this class is called Factory Sporter (FS). Firearm and stock clarification can be found separately below.
-
Contrary to "C5 Posting of Targets", Shot Targets will not be posted on a 'Wailing Wall' due to time and location constraints. Once all scores have been entered into the computer and calculated, competitors will be told and allocated 10 minutes to inspect their scored Targets. This it the time to lodge Objections. Competitors are greatly encouraged to check their targets at this time as human error does occur and we are not infallible. If During the call out of the Results other errors are noted (possibly addition errors) this must be raised and corrected within 15 Minutes of the final result presentation. Final Results will always be done on the day of the Competition.
-
Contrary to "E12 - E12.5 Crossfire Procedure", the following will apply.
-
It is the responsibility of the shooter who crossfires to immediately advise the Range Officer of such an event, and then fire the balance of their shots on their own target. A shooter who crossfires and does notify the range officer, will have been deemed to have inadvertently cross-fired and shall not be disqualified, but shall be penalized with 5 points deducted for each crossfire.
-
Once a Crossfire has be notified to the Range Officer a ceasefire will immediately be called and the timer paused until both the Guilty, Innocent Party and Range Officer are all agreed on the error and number of.
-
The innocent Party will be offered the possibility of accepting the cross fired shots, or to have a new target mounted.
-
If a new target is mounted the following applies. The original Target should have a line drawn through all of the agreed cross fires and remaining Targets. The New Target will be marked as "cross-fire" and will have a line drawn through all of the previously shot targets less the agreed cross-fired ones.
-
Shooting will continue immediately once the Range Officer is satisfied of all the above, the remaining time from the 20 Minutes will be used.
-
FACTORY SPORTER
Factory Sporter (FS) is a local to Ireland only class and was introduced to allow an easier path for the competitive shooter into Rimfire Benchrest shooting without requiring a specialist rifle to be competitive. Therefore the rifle specification chosen was intended to be a common shooting or hunting rifle with less cost involved. As times and 'normal' equipment evolves these rules are subject to change. There is no international competition or class called Factory Sporter.
